Welcome to Mr. Bigler's class!
Syllabus, Expectations, Etc.
The following documents will give you a sense of the class, of my
expectations for you as a student, and what you can expect from me as a
teacher.
Surveys
I have three initial forms and surveys that I want you to fill out. They
are:
- Student Info Form: biographical information about you,
including your preferred name and gender identity, contact info,
languages you speak, how you feel about being called on in class, and
other things you might want me to know about you.
- Time Commitments: How many hours per week you are
committed to various responsibilities and activities.
- Learning Styles Survey: Information about how it's
easiest for you to learn, which will make it easier for me to make sure
you get the help you need in order to be successful
When you click the "Start" button below, it will take you to the first of
these forms. Each form will then take you to the next one.
Later in September, once the school year is fully underway, I will ask you
to fill out two more forms:
- Your Expectations: Information about your anticipated
level of participation/effort in the class. This is not meant to be
judgmental; the purpose is so that I can help you meet your own
expectations, and so I don't end up badgering you to do things that you
don't intend to.
- Trauma & Resilience Survey: How much trauma you may
have experienced, and what mitigating factors are present. The form
won't tell me the specifics of the trauma you have experienced (that
information is private unless you decide to talk to me about it), but
the score will help me understand the extent to which I might need to
offer you extra flexibility or be careful to avoid triggering or
upsetting you.
